Born in Lincoln, NE. Grandparents took me to State Fair Park dozens of times as a child in the 1960s for entertainment, with my uncle, who had cerebral palsy as they were allowed to park near the rail before the finish line. Became a player at Ak-Sar-Ben and Fonner when 17. Retired from 50 years of banking as a commercial lender, insurance agent and inactive CPA. I've been to more racetracks in the US than you. Horse racing is a tremendous sport. I have great respect for the track workers, breeders, owners and especially the athletic jockeys. People not involved in the sport don't understand the love of the horses and great care extended by almost everyone involved in the sport, except for a few bad apples.
