NTRA TODAY IN THOROUGHBRED RACING HISTORY

2014 California Chrome, winner of Kentrucky Derby 140, became the first horse bred in the Golden State to wear the blanket of roses since Decidedly won in 1962, giving jockey Victor Espinoza his second Derby winner. California Chrome's trainer, Art Sherman, at the age of 77 won his first Kentucky Derby and surpassed Charlie Whittingham as the oldest conditioner to saddle a Kentucky Derby winner.

The mission of the NTRA is to increase the popularity, welfare and integrity of Thoroughbred racing through consensus-based leadership, legislative advocacy, safety and integrity initiatives, fan engagement and corporate partner development.
