- 1974 Frank Whiteley-trained Ruffian won the Spinaway Stakes by 13 lengths at Saratoga Race Course, ending her two-year-old season with a 5-for-5 record. Ruffian was subsequently voted Eclipse Award champion juvenile filly of 1974.
