Strengths: Product of a slick pedigree, he’s by Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker out of the brilliant, but career-shortened sprinter Star Of Goshen (who was half-sister to Malibu winner Powis Castle). Extremely well seasoned early in his career, opening with a trio of route races and overcoming a terrible post draw and start to win on the grass at Saratoga.
Weaknesses: Long-strider takes a while to get rolling and has had trouble getting away from the gate in respectable order. Leaves himself a lot to do and does not appear to have an explosive kick, but rather a long, sustained run.
