Evernote is a phenomenal app for organizing your notes and web clippings. It syncs from your phone and computer so you have all of your notes, all the time. Indispensable for writers!

Horse racing, of course! They run in the snow, so it counts, right?

My camera — but maybe that's a given as a photographer. My iPhone is probably second, because I can keep track of the races and check Twitter for live news about the contenders.

It's so hard to choose just one, but I was most excited when my picks Will Take Charge and Mucho Macho Man finished 1-2 in the Classic. So happy for Macho's connections, and stoked WTC could show everyone what he was made of on the biggest stage. Can't wait to see them back next year!

Jeff Lowe

Jeff Lowe is media director for Team Valor International, the racing partnership that bred and raced Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom. He previously was a long-time writer for Thoroughbred Times.

Equibase's "Today's Racing" is great, I use it a lot.

Love college basketball, which is kind of a given living in Kentucky.

I've always liked Beholder, and Team Valor bought her half sister to breed to Animal Kingdom this year, so seeing her dominate that field for the Distaff was a real thrill.

Peter Isacksen

Peter Isacksen

Peter is an American actor, producer ad director. He is probably best known for his role as Seaman Pruitt in the TV series CPO Sharkey, which ran from 1976 until 1978

I always bring my Red Sox jacket for good luck, even if it is hot

My favorite moment is the pageantry before the start. Racing does it best.

It's a three-way tie. I love AudioNote, which has made conducting and transcribing interviews for print articles so much more efficient. I use Flashlight every day at least once because one of my three dogs likes to hide in dark places. And I can't stop playing Dots.

Shovel racing. One of my goals is to move from spectator to participant at least once.

Flats. I interviewed Bo Derek before attending my first Breeders' Cup and asked her for a few fashion tips. She essentially said it's all about being classy and comfortable - and wear flat boots. I can't do that at the Kentucky Derby, but I do carry a pair of roll-up ballet slippers in my purse for when I can't take the heels anymore.

Watching Gary Stevens win with Mucho Macho Man by a nose, knowing it was his first Breeder' Cup Classic win and Kathy Ritvo had just become the first female trainer to win that race. Oh, and hearing Richie Sambora play "Call to the Post" on his guitar was quite a moment, too. I am definitely a fan of his, but I can think of 20 different songs I'd rather hear him play.
