With a track-record time in his debut on the opening day of the 2011-12 Gulfstream Park season, the homebred son of Discreet Cat earned a lot of attention. He won by 9 ¾ lengths, covering the 5 ½ furlongs in 1:02.34 to eclipse the prvious record of 1:03. In his next start, on January 7, 2012, Discreet Dancer did not flirt with the 1-mile track record, but he was impressive nonetheless, winning by 5½ lengths. Following those back-to-back smashing performances, he was the 4-5 favorite in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) but tired in the stretch and finished third in hwat was the final start of his 3-year-old season.
Discreet Dancer opened his 4-year-old campaign with back-to-back wins, including a breakthrough stakes win in the Gulfstream Park handicap (G2) on March 9.
