NTRA introduces "The Foal Fund" to support federal lobbying efforts
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) today announced the establishment of "The Foal Fund" to support the Association’s federal lobbying efforts. The Fund complements the NTRA’s voluntary 1/4% check-off program that enables buyers and sellers at major Thoroughbred auctions to support federal lobbying. The Foal Fund provides owners and breeders who do not participate in auction sales an easier opportunity to contribute to lobbying efforts on issues including taxation, Internet gaming and immigration.

Federal bill introduced that would eliminate automatic 25% withholding on pari-mutuel winnings of $5,000 or more
A bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives last night that would eliminate the automatic 25 percent federal withholding on pari-mutuel winnings of $5,000 or more for bets that carry odds of 300-1 or higher. The "Pari-Mutuel Conformity and Equality Act" (PACE Act) was introduced by Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY). Rep. Charles W. Boustany, Jr. (R-LA) is the lead co-sponsor.
