Unprecedented Sales Figures Generate Record Member Savings of $17.8 Million
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) announced today at the University of Arizona’s Symposium on Racing & Gaming in Tucson that the NTRA Advantage program—formerly known as NTRA Purchasing—has generated record sales of $100,173,031 so far in 2007, topping the 2006 12-month figure by more than $20 million. Aggregate savings to the industry resulting from NTRA Advantage’s preferred pricing thus far in the current year exceed $17.8 million.
“We are delighted that sales through NTRA Advantage have broken the $100 million barrier this year with more than a month still to be tallied,” said Terry McElfresh, Senior Vice President of NTRA Advantage. “Whenever a member of the industry uses NTRA Advantage, a portion of sales proceeds goes to support NTRA programs for marketing, advertising, television, legislative and regulatory advocacy, which improves the economics of horse racing and breeding. So in addition to realizing significant savings on your purchases, you are supporting the companies that support racing. The end result is a win-win for all involved in the industry.”
NTRA Advantage delivers substantial cost savings—through local dealers—on products and services from such nationally known vendors as Dodge, John Deere, UPS, Sherwin-Williams and Office Max. Value-added services are also available through NTRA Advantage, including employee training in equipment operations and usage surveys that help buyers develop a long-term buying strategy based on equipment needs and the timing of their purchases. To date, NTRA members have saved more than $60 million through the program.
The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horse racing interests consisting of leading thoroughbred racetracks, owners, breeders, trainers and affiliated horse racing associations, charged with increasing the popularity of horse racing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York City. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA web site, NTRA.com.
